Nothing playing

Dust has settled on the silver frame I almost forgot the way you used to look at me Resting quietly on the mantelpiece A snapshot of a sun that used to shine so bright The edges are frayed, and the colors have gone But the warmth in your smile still remains I trace the outline of your frozen hand And the world seems to slowly drift away Time moves on, it leaves us behind But some things are locked in this glass A promise we made on that summer day Is that all that we have of the past? Now you are just a faded photo on the mantel! A frozen moment that I can't let go! Though the world keeps turning and the seasons change! I am still standing where you left me so long ago! Can you hear my voice across the distance? Are you still smiling the same way? I hold onto this paper memory! And pray that the colors won't all fade away! The fireplace is cold, the room is getting dark And your image seems to blur before my eyes Was it all a dream, or was it truly real? The love that we shared under those bright blue skies? I reach out my hand, but there's only the glass A barrier keeping our worlds far apart But even as you fade, and the light dims down low I will keep a place for you deep in my heart Time moves on, it leaves us behind But some things are locked in this glass A promise we made on that summer day Is that all that we have of the past? Now you are just a faded photo on the mantel! A frozen moment that I can't let go! Though the world keeps turning and the seasons change! I am still standing where you left me so long ago! Can you hear my voice across the distance? Are you still smiling the same way? I hold onto this paper memory! And pray that the colors won't all fade away! (A faded photo...) (On the mantel...) I'll never let you fade... ...away.
